Dear Claudia, Jonathan, Kimberly and the Gallo Family, I wish I had the right words to say that would bring you comfort and peace. I met Gallo while he was stationed in Texas. I remember the story about the Wooly Willy I had sent in a care package. Gallo said it was his favorite. One day Sgt was mad that they were so messy, that he threw all stuff out. Gallo was searching for Wooly Willy and could not find him. We laughed so hard that day. Something so simple, bought him so much joy. The last time I saw him in person was when he was stationed in Colorado. I stopped by the Army Base to see him. He had tears in his eyes as he hugged me so tightly. He could not believe, I came to see him. We laughed, we cried, we shared stories - the spider one still makes me laugh when I think about it. I am so blessed to have known such a fine young man. He will be forever etched in my heart. With all my gratitude and love, Forever Army Mom.

News of Juan’s death hit me with an absolute shock. I served as Juan’s First Sergeant with C Battery, 2nd Battalion, 6th Air Defense Artillery where he was one of the very first instructors for the Army’s Medical Department Direct Commission Course. Juan was an outstanding instructor, dedicated to training medical professionals as they transitioned from civilian to military medical providers. His professionalism and dedication to his job was an example for all to emulate. The officer and NCOs that worked alongside him looked forward to conducting daily activities with Juan as he was a well respected and very well liked person. Though retired, I know that the commitment he displayed through his career continued well after his service. His loss will leave a massive hole in the hearts and lives of more than just his family. This is a major loss to the Chaos family and the US Army as a whole. I pray for his strength on his new journey, as well as the strength of his family now, and well in to the future. I love you, brother. You’ll always be a part of me and those you’ve worked and dedicated your life to.

To Juan's family, news of Juan's passing hit me with a force that is indescribable. I am so sorry you lost such a caring and loving husband, father, and son. I know I lost a brother in Juan who enriched my life so much. I met him almost 10 years ago when he was stationed at Ft. Sill. We worked and taught together, he molded and inspired so many young and older men and women entering a career in the Army. Anyone who's life he touched respected him, and in most cases liked him. I feel sad hearing the news. Gallo was so humble, loyal and one of the best leaders I’ve ever met. Met him in Iraq with Bravo 3-7 FA and we stayed friends ever since. To the Gallo Family. My family and I have only known Juan for a short time as his neighbors in Savannah. He was so kind and accepting of my rowdy, nosey boys who were constantly hitting baseballs into his yard and asking him thousands of questions. He spent time outside almost daily talking to the boys and passing their balls back over our fence. He even gifted the boys some balls and a bat, and always commented on their good behavior which meant a lot coming from a stand-up guy like himself. Please accept our deepfelt condolences.
